Biography

Diane Travis, a native of Toronto, Canada, now resides in northern Ontario where”the air is fresh and nature is in abundance”. She was very fortunate to take fine art in university under the direction of Dr. Paul Kelly. She took a long hiatus from art and dedicated the next 25 years to her education and patient care as a Doctor of Chiropractic. Diane then took a brave leap to rekindle her love of art and enrolled in the prestigious Milan Art Institute. She approached this opportunity with the same scholarly curiosity, discipline and dedication she had for her chiropractic career.

Diane leans toward an impressionistic/realism style of painting. She gravitates toward topics that emphasizes the beauty in nature and everyday life. Diane describes her process as, “a capturing of light, a laying down of shadows and an elaboration of colour”. She loves using an artists knife taking advantage of the fleeting manner in which the canvas grabs onto the paint presenting artistic opportunity and texture, and allows that expression to reveal itself when the painting is complete.  “I want people to look at my paintings and be reminded of the comforts of home, or excited to explore their love of nature, even if this locations only resides within the painting”.

Diane will continue her quest to discover the beauty of life and nature, looking for nostalgic vistas that light has touched and transfer that onto her canvas.
